Hazy Hop Odyssey
Friday, August 21, 2026
A five‑session Hazy Hop Odyssey to highlight the full range of hop expression—from single‑hop showcases to experimental formats and high‑gravity IPAs.
This standalone category centers an ambitious, multi-hop beer featuring Krush (formerly known as HBC 586) with Australian Eclipse, New Zealand Southern Cross, Rakau and classic American Citra hops.
SANCTIFIÉE – BRASSERIE BAS-CANADA
IPA – Double / Imperial • 8.2% ABV
HOPS: Krush, Citra, Southern Cross, Eclipse, Rakau
TASTING EXPECTATIONS: You'll likely encounter a bold opening wave of bright citrus and sweet tropical fruit (mango, guava) from the Krush and Citra, followed by deep notes of resinous pine, dark berry undertones, and a crisp, herbal finish contributed by the Australian and New Zealand varieties.
Both beers isolate this iconic New Zealand hop, utilizing multiple processing forms—standard T90 pellets, concentrated Cryo and Hop Kief lupulin powder, and the specialized Nelson Bliss yeast strain—to express the hop's full potential without interference from other varieties.

These four beers highlight the synergy between Nelson Sauvin or Riwaka paired directly with classic Citra or complimentary New Zealand varieties. Brewers frequently blend these hops because Riwaka and Nelson Sauvin amplify Citra's natural citrus backbone with unique Southern Hemisphere character.
